  This supports post-entry choice of the main major within a defined cluster or category, but does not prove minors, double majors or an open program.

  The official HIT School of Architecture and Design page publishes 2023 undergraduate training plan PDFs.

  The Architecture plan states a five year study duration, while the Building Environment and Energy Application Engineering plan states a four year duration; therefore the catalog duration is recorded as 4 to 5 years.

  A repeated text extraction check showed that courseChoice = 0 was incorrect: the Architecture plan contains 9 credits of 专业方向选修课程, at least 8 credits of 文化素质教育课程, 6 credits of 创新创业与社会实践 and 10 credits of 跨专业发展课程.

  The Building Environment and Energy Application Engineering plan contains 13 credits of 专业方向限选课程, 4 credits of 专业方向选修课程, choice of one professional direction, elective courses across two tracks, and the same independent development blocks.

  This supports courseChoice = 2 as distribution-style requirements across several groups. Level 3 is not assigned because the sources do not prove an open university-wide catalogue or a rule allowing any internal HIT courses to freely count toward the degree.

  The strong foundation rules concern admission selection and explicitly restrict major transfer for students admitted through that plan.

  The source supports the conservative reading that the found flexible elements are not a normal free model of program or course choice.

  The official Harbin Institute of Technology 2023-2024 undergraduate teaching quality report states that, as of 30 September 2024, the university had 15,094 regular undergraduate students.

  The report separately lists 614 undergraduate degree-seeking international students. For comparability with other Chinese universities in the catalog, the regular undergraduate figure is stored. The specialist degree level does not apply to the Chinese model, so specialist enrollment is stored as 0.
