Brown College describes the Open Curriculum as having no fixed core or general core requirements, with a personalized program built around roughly 80 concentrations or an independent concentration.
The Course Selection page shows nearly 2,000 courses, the shopping period, opportunities to create courses, take RISD classes, study abroad or study at another U.S. institution.
The Brown Bulletin sets a 30-course-credit minimum, eight full-time semesters as the ordinary path, concentration requirements and the option of an independent concentration.
Brown describes its cross-registration agreement with Rhode Island School of Design: Brown students may take up to four RISD course credits toward Brown requirements, subject to seat availability and approvals.
