  Stockholm University says education is available at Bachelor's, Master's and PhD levels and directs students to the digital course catalogue for all courses and programmes.

  The English overview lists seven English-taught Bachelor's programmes and says students can use the catalogue with filters for international students and first level to see bachelor's-level courses.

  The same page says SU offers more than 100 Master's programmes and a wide range of Master's-level courses in English.

  Model elements: this source establishes the coexistence of degree programmes and standalone course choice. It is not enough by itself for programChoice 5, so I combine it with the degree requirements and course catalogue sources.

  The official catalogue states: Explore our freestanding courses and programmes.

  Using the catalogue filters for first-level courses and excluding courses available only as part of a programme or course package produced 1,439 hits, with examples such as 7.5-credit first-level courses in Musicology, Astronomy, History of Religions and Education.

  Using the catalogue filters for first-level programmes produced 179 hits, including 180-credit Bachelor's programmes in Criminology, Archaeology, Atmospheric Sciences, Performance Studies, Physics, Sociology, Business Administration, Biology, Chemistry and Computer Science.

  Model elements: this supports programChoice 5 together with the general Bachelor's degree rule, because a large first-cycle freestanding course catalogue exists alongside named programmes.

  Stockholm University says all courses and study programmes are placed within first, second or third cycle, and that each qualification is specified by a cycle.

  For a Bachelor of Arts or Science, the university requires 180 credits in completed courses, equal to three years of full-time studies, and at least 90 credits in a defined main field with increasing depth, including a degree project of at least 15 credits.

  Professional qualifications normally require enrollment in a specific programme, and SU lists first-cycle and second-cycle professional qualifications such as education, social work, law, psychology and teaching degrees.

  Model elements: this is the main source for programChoice 5. The general Bachelor route is defined through completed courses and a main field, not only through a pre-admitted fixed programme. I do not classify all SU professional degrees as open, because the same page says professional qualifications normally require enrolment in a specific programme.

  Stockholm University explains that Sweden uses the Bologna system and that Swedish higher education credits are equivalent to ECTS credits.

  A full-time workload is 30 credits per semester and 60 credits in a normal academic year.

  The page lists the Bachelor's degree as 180 credits.

  Model elements: this supports the three-year lower duration boundary and the conversion of credit volumes into years.

  Stockholm University says its students can apply for study abroad for shorter or longer periods.

  Exchange study may be one or two semesters, a summer course, or a short mobility period with a virtual component.

  Exchange opportunities exist at departmental and central university-wide levels. Departmental agreements are often subject-specific, while central programmes are open regardless of department.

  The page says fee-paying SU students must return from exchange with the equivalent number of credits, with 30 ECTS equal to one semester of full-time studies.

  Strict cross-registration review: exchange studies are not used as the decisive basis for courseChoice 4. Ordinary exchange is too broad for that score unless a concrete external course choice and credit-recording mechanism are visible.

  Stockholm University's CIVIS courses page says CIVIS offers Blended Intensive Programmes for students who want to study a short course at a partner university in Europe.

  A CIVIS course includes a virtual part and five days of physical mobility, carries 3 or 6 ECTS, and application is made through the CIVIS course website.

  To participate and apply for an Erasmus grant, the student must be registered at Stockholm University and intend to graduate there. The course must fit the study plan because the credits need to be transferred to Stockholm University afterwards.

  After completion, the home department or Student Services transfers the credits or notes participation in Ladok using a Certificate of Attendance or Transcript of Records.

  Model elements: this is the direct basis for courseChoice 4. It documents external course choice at a partner university, ECTS credits, and an institutional credit-recording mechanism at Stockholm University.

  Stockholm University's official page describes CIVIS as a European University Alliance that brings together eleven leading universities across Europe and increases mobility among students, teachers and staff.

  The European member list includes Aix-Marseille, Athens, Bucharest, Université libre de Bruxelles, Universidad Autonoma de Madrid, Sapienza, Stockholm, Tübingen, Glasgow, Salzburg and Lausanne.

  For courseChoice 4, the external partners are all listed CIVIS members except Stockholm University itself. This source supplies the concrete partner universities missing from the previous matrix description.

• Credit transfer https://www.su.se/english/education/degrees/credit-transfer

  Stockholm University says students admitted to and studying at SU can apply for credit transfer if previous studies or professional experience correspond to a course or programme at SU.

  The page says credit transfer may replace a specific module or programme component or optional course credits in the degree.

  For a Bachelor's degree, completed courses from other Swedish higher education institutions can be added as optional courses when applying for the degree, while credits from previous studies at a foreign higher education institution require a credit transfer application.

  For exchange programme participants, the application needs the official transcript of records and the Learning Agreement.

  Model elements: this is a supporting source for courseChoice 4, not the main one. It confirms the recognition mechanism for external courses, while the concrete partner cross-registration basis comes from the CIVIS sources.

  Stockholm University says it offers a wide range of programmes and courses that lead to teaching degrees and qualifications to work as a teacher within different subject areas and age groups.

  The subject page links to teacher routes such as primary school, secondary school, vocational teacher, special needs teacher and supplementary teacher education.

  Model elements: this is used only for the professional-degree upper duration context. I do not use teacher education to raise programChoice because these routes are programme-based professional qualifications.

  Stockholm University's official annual report for 2025, Tabell 2, reports 25,776 full-year students at grundnivå, 6,315 at avancerad nivå and 32,627 in total.

  The figure is HST, full-year student equivalent, within the funding cap and tuition-fee-funded activity; the grundnivå row is recorded as bachelor enrollment. The specialist category does not apply to the Swedish model.

  The Ej klassificerat row of 535 covers outgoing exchange students and the natural science foundation year, so it is not added to the bachelor total.
