The official page describes UCU as a separate honours college of Utrecht University with a three-year Liberal Arts and Sciences programme, residential campus, small cohort, its own CROHO code and selective admission.
UCU is a separate liberal-arts-and-sciences college model, so it is not treated as the general Utrecht University bachelor structure.
The admissions page states that UCU receives more than 1,000 applications and around 250 students enrol each year; candidates submit a separate application, motivation materials, references and may be invited for an interview.
Model element: UCU is a separate selective programme with its own intake, not a university-wide option available to every UU bachelor's student.
The study programme page describes a three-year programme where students build an individual curriculum from more than 20 disciplines across Humanities, Social Sciences and Sciences.
In year two, students declare a major while continuing to choose major courses, electives and a minor.
The UCU regulations set a 180 ECTS study load, BA and BSc major requirements, major declaration by midterm of the third semester, a minor of at least 30 credits and a double major option requiring completion of two majors and two bachelor theses.
Model elements: double-major level for programme choice and formal constraints on the individual curriculum.
The UCU page explains that off-campus courses can be taken at other UU faculties, other Dutch universities and abroad; up to 22.5 ECTS may count toward the required 180 ECTS, or up to 15 ECTS when combined with exchange.
Model element: open external course choice with prior Exam Board approval and transcript transfer from the host institution.
The UCU procedures page describes major declaration and requests to include an off-campus course in the individual curriculum through OSIRIS Case and the Exam Board.
Model elements: major choice and external course choice embedded in regular UCU academic procedures.
