  The home page describes IIT Bombay as one of India's premier technical universities and states that it was designated an Institute of National Importance by Parliament in 1961.

  The official page metadata gives the location as Main Gate Rd, IIT Area, Powai, Mumbai, Maharashtra 400076.

  The Academic Office lists Bachelor of Technology, Dual Degree, Bachelor of Science and Bachelor of Design routes.

  The page describes the Dual Degree as a 5 year programme awarding B.Tech. and M.Tech. degrees and says admission to IIT Bombay's 4 and 5 year undergraduate programmes is through JEE Advanced, JoSSA, UCEED and INMO routes.

  Model elements: the same page says the updated undergraduate curriculum has increased flexibility in course selection within and outside departments, and that students can opt for minor programmes with details in the UG rule book.

  The UG rule book covers B.Tech., Dual Degree, B.S. and B.Des. programmes and states that IIT Bombay follows a credit based semester system.

  It describes the B.Tech., Dual Degree and B.S. structure as basic sciences, humanities and social sciences, engineering and technology, then chosen areas of study.

  The same source says B.Tech., B.S. and B.Des. students have room to take additional courses after the first year, including an assortment of courses or projects anywhere in the Institute, subject to requirements.

  The rule book defines Minor as an additional credential earned through 30 credits of additional courses in a discipline other than the major discipline of the B.Tech. degree.

  It says all academic units offer minors in their disciplines and that an earned minor is mentioned on the degree certificate and transcript.

  The same section defines Honours as an additional credential in the student's own discipline and says students may pursue an Honour and a minor, or two or more minors if the timetable permits.

  Model elements: this supports programChoice 3, major plus minor. I did not raise the score to double major because the evidence concerns minor, honours and dual degree, not two undergraduate majors.

  The rule book says students can broaden their perspectives through at least two open Institute electives drawn from across the Institute.

  It defines an Institute Elective course as any credit course across the Institute, except courses from the student's own academic unit or core and department elective courses in the student's programme curriculum, with Faculty Advisor consultation.

  Model elements: this independently supports broad internal course choice, below the external credit transfer level.

  The grading rules state that courses completed outside IIT Bombay through NPTEL, SWAYAM or Semester Exchange, after DUGC or DPGC approval, contribute towards completion of credits.

  The transcript records such courses and the corresponding grades, although those grades are not used in SPI or CPI calculation.

  A separate policy section says academic units may register students for Semester Exchange courses when a student returns from the foreign institute, as approved by DUGC.

  Strict cross-registration review: semester exchange alone would not be enough for courseChoice 4. The retained basis is that the UG rule book also covers external NPTEL and SWAYAM courses that can contribute to degree credits after academic approval and are recorded on the transcript.

  The official international exchange page says IIT Bombay has MoUs with several universities abroad for student exchange programmes.

  It says IITB students can do coursework and or project work at an institution with which IITB has an MoU.

  For project or research work abroad, the page says students need concurrence of the IITB project guide if they wish to submit the work towards their degree and get credits for it.

  The 2025 IDDDP guidelines say UG students admitted to B.S., B.Tech. and Dual Degree programmes can apply for IDDDP at the end of the sixth semester if they meet CPI and backlog conditions.

  The application must state a plan to finish the B.S. or B.Tech. programme by the 8th semester and the intended IDDD specialization by the 10th semester.

  Model elements: this is a selective interdisciplinary dual degree route at the bachelor plus master level. I treated it as an important flexible pathway, but not as evidence of a double undergraduate major.

  The official NIRF 2025 PDF reports 5,164 students in UG [4 Years Program(s)] and 1,109 students in UG [5 Years Program(s)] in the Total Actual Student Strength table.

  The catalog stores the sum of those two rows, 6,273 students. The IIT degree model does not use the specialist level, so specialist enrollment is stored as 0.
