  DTU describes undergraduate education as a set of separate engineering programmes; one BSc programme is taught in English, while the other undergraduate programmes are taught in Danish.

  The official BSc Eng structure comprises 180 ECTS over three years: 55 ECTS of polytechnical foundation, 55 ECTS of programme-specific courses, 45 ECTS of electives and 25 ECTS of projects.

  Model elements: DTU states that elective courses may be selected from several hundred DTU courses or taken at another university in Denmark or abroad; this supports institutional external course choice with credit recognition.

  DTU's BEng programmes last three and a half years and include a six-month engineering internship.

  Model elements: the first two years have a set syllabus, after which students choose courses from DTU's electives portfolio; this confirms broad but programme-embedded course choice.

  The General Engineering BSc lets students choose one of four specializations immediately or by the beginning of the second year: Living Systems, Advanced Materials, Cyber Systems and Future Energy.

  Model elements: this is a meaningful flexible pocket inside one programme, but not evidence of a dominant university-wide major-choice model; the third year is described as a period of high course-choice freedom, including study at another Danish university or a EuroTeQ online course.

  DTU states that the General Engineering BSc project can be completed not only in the student's department, but also in another department, with a company or with another university.

  Model elements: this confirms inter-organisational study options at project level, but does not raise programChoice because it concerns the project component of a selected programme.

  DTU's official Facts and figures education page for 2025 reports total enrolment of 3,198 in BEng and 4,082 in BSc Eng.

  The undergraduateEnrollment value sums DTU's two bachelor-level categories, BEng and BSc Eng. The MSc Eng total of 6,533 is not included. The specialist category does not apply to the Danish model.
