  The official schools page lists Kyushu University's undergraduate structure: School of Interdisciplinary Science and Innovation, Letters, Education, Law, Economics, Science, Medicine, Dentistry, Pharmaceutical Sciences, Engineering, Design, Agriculture, and the 21st Century Program.

  The same page gives the central university address as Kyushu University, 744 Motooka, Nishi-ku, Fukuoka 819-0395.

  Model elements: the dominant structure is admission into schools and departments, not a university-wide open bachelor. The presence of medicine, dentistry and pharmaceutical sciences is used with Japanese degree rules for the 4 to 6 year duration range.

  The curriculum page says Kyushu University's academic curriculum consists of KIKAN education and courses in one's major.

  It explains that first-year study is a transition into university learning, while in advanced years students expand and deepen knowledge by focusing on academic majors.

  The same page lists course areas: KIKAN seminars with mixed departments, language and culture fundamentals, language electives, classics, literary disciplines, scientific disciplines, fitness and sports, general education, advanced KIKAN education courses and academic major courses.

  Model elements: this supports courseChoice 2 through distribution-style KIKAN categories plus major courses. It does not prove free choice of any internal course.

  The Faculty of Arts and Science student page publishes KIKAN education handbooks, timetables, course lists and syllabus links for each cohort.

  It says that from the second year onward, major courses from other faculties or departments can be included as KIKAN education Other credits if the student earns them.

  The same page adds constraints: requirements differ by faculty, students must check the handbook, contact the office of the offering faculty or department before registration, follow that unit's procedures, and medicine, dentistry and pharmaceutical sciences do not allow other-faculty students in their major courses.

  Model elements: this is stronger than a small closed elective block, but it remains regulated internal cross-faculty choice, so I classify courseChoice as 2 rather than 3.

  Kyushu University's official page says the former Challenge 21 programme was renamed Minor Program Challenge 21 from April 2025.

  The page lists the current courses as Humanities, Education, Law, Economics, Science and Design, and says the certificate records the course name that was approved for the student.

  Model elements: this is university-level evidence for programChoice 1, because the main school remains fixed while a smaller certified additional field can be added.

  The about page says students satisfy the graduation requirements of their own faculty while taking courses offered by faculties outside their home faculty to gain another area of expertise.

  Students who meet the completion conditions receive a Minor Program Challenge 21 completion certificate from the president of Kyushu University in addition to their home faculty degree.

  Students can apply from the second year after earning at least 2 additional credits from KIKAN education beyond their faculty requirements; the application is reviewed.

  Model elements: the programme is a real certified minor-like pathway, but it is not a double major and it is not an open curriculum.

  The official study abroad guide says the page mainly provides information about the university-wide exchange study system for all students enrolled in regular Kyushu University degree programmes.

  Strict cross-registration review: I do not count this as courseChoice 4. The source is about study abroad and exchange mobility, not ordinary access to one or two courses at a neighboring university with routine inclusion in the degree record.

  The official PDF titled "Current number of undergraduate students" reports enrolled undergraduate students as of May 1, 2026. The total row reports 11,630 students.

  For the Japanese model, this undergraduate figure is stored as bachelor enrollment. No separate specialist degree level is used, so specialist enrollment is stored as 0.
