The official regulation describes the 2+X model as a credit-based system combining broad-category admission, general education, professional training, and multiple development pathways.
Model elements: professional advancement, cross-disciplinary, innovation and entrepreneurship, and minor bachelor's degree pathways; in some paths, remaining credits may be filled with other undergraduate courses as unrestricted electives.
Model elements: programChoice = 3 and courseChoice = 3, but not program-choice level 4 by itself because double bachelor appears as a separate project-based mechanism.
The 2024 plan lists seven cross-school experimental classes and describes major streaming after the first semester: by major, by school with later free choice inside the school, or with no quota restriction in selected classes.
Model element: regular but bounded post-entry major choice; students submit up to six preferences, while placement considers minimum course requirements, academic performance, interviews, and remaining quotas.
The regulation defines the minor bachelor's degree as part of the 2+X system for full-time undergraduates who keep a primary major and seek systematic cross-disciplinary training.
The minor bachelor's curriculum includes foundational, core, and advanced courses in another professional field for at least 40 credits; courses are taught together with students in that primary major, and completion is annotated on the degree record.
Flexibility level: programChoice = 3 as a primary major plus structured secondary specialization model.
The regulation describes double bachelor's degree projects as full-time undergraduate programs combining two primary majors from different fields, with an integrated curriculum and degree documents naming both degrees.
For the matrix this is an upper-bound signal, but it does not raise the coordinate to programChoice = 4: the projects are separately approved and recruit students through Gaokao, so they are not a free post-entry double-major option for most students.
The guide describes the undergraduate structure as general education, arts/science foundation, and professional education; in the general-education core students choose one course from each module, general-education electives must be outside the student's own department, and some programs include unrestricted elective credits for courses of any type.
Model elements: courseChoice = 3: alongside distribution requirements there is broad cross-departmental and partly unrestricted course choice, while the curriculum remains framed by program requirements.
The official page explains Fudan's liberal arts/general education model: the general-education core is organized by broad areas, students must earn elective credits, and the core contains around 180 courses.
Model elements: the distribution-requirement component of courseChoice and shows that course choice is embedded in the undergraduate model rather than limited to intra-major alternatives.
The UIPE curriculum lists a four-year program length, 24 general-education credits, a professional core, and at least 36 credits in multi-development paths.
Within these paths students choose professional advancement, cross-disciplinary course packages, an academic minor program, innovation/entrepreneurship, or a partner double degree; this is a concrete program-level implementation of the 2+X model.
The official MBBS page states a six-year undergraduate medical program and award of Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery after credit requirements are completed.
Duration range: the four-year UIPE programme and six-year MBBS set the 4-6 year bachelorSpecialistProgramDuration range.
